Data centre cooling

Data Centre Cooling

Your data centre (computer rooms) must be kept at a cool temperature for servers to function properly. Computer processors have a maximum operating temperature of typically 65°C as determined by manufacturers such as Intel and AMD. Internal heat is dissipated by computer system fans and vents but the ambient temperature must also be cool to avoid overheating, which can result in a malfunction. Most manufacturers specify that the ambient temperature of your Data Centre should be around 22°C and must never exceed 35°C.

An office environment will often have a sufficiently low temperature (especially with an office air conditioning unit) without the need for a specialist data centre cooling solution. However, when computer equipment is operating in a confined space such as a data centre or computer room, the temperature must be controlled by cooling.

Server Room Temperature Monitoring

Air conditioning units are available to monitor the ambient sever room temperature and adjust cooling output accordingly. Premiair can provide you with a specialised air conditioning system to keep the server room temperature at 22°C. Our data centre cooling solution will eliminate the risk of overheating caused by high ambient temperatures.

Internal cooling must not be overlooked; ensure your system fans are in good working order and system vents are not blocked. With the addition of data centre cooling and server room temperature monitoring, you are now doing everything possible to keep your equipment running with maximum uptime.
